How to Use the Parallel Computing Server

The parallel computing server for this course is the SGI Altix Ultraviolet 1000 machine of the JKU called

zusie.jku.at 

User accounts for the server are handed out in class. The home directories of these accounts are not backed up it is your own responsibility to keep a copy of all programs and data on your own computer. On the first Tuesday of every month, the server cannot be used because of system maintenance.Within the JKU network, remote login to the computing server is possible via secure shell (SSH). Under Linux, the corresponding command is

ssh -X -l riscXX zusie.jku.at 

There are many SSH clients for other operating systems, the simplest one is PuTTY.
