What do you actually have in mind when speaking about a physical smoke simulation for instance.

Is it sufficient to just let the smoke look somewhat real (like having a starting velocity depending on object movement and decaying this velocity term over time whilst fading the particle away) or a REAL simulation solving Navier Stokes equation considering things like density, temperature, pressure and so on... (the later solution would be a bit of overkill I guess)
